Geraldine "Gerry" Gabrielle Gilbert

Passed away April 11th, 2022 at the Campbellton Regional Hospital after a long struggle with dementia. Gerry was born May 30th, 1935 in Campbellton, NB to the late Ernest and Donia (Leblanc) Johnson.

Gerry worked for the CNR as a switchboard operator in the 60’s. She then worked for what was then known as the Unemployment Insurance Commission (UIC) until the mid 80’s when she retired. Throughout those years, she also worked in the ‘Canteen’, with her good friend, Joyce Valdron, first at the Memorial Gardens, and then at the Civic Center. They served up many a good hotdog!

She also loved her bingo and fly fishing. She loved a good laugh! But most of all, she loved her family. Her family meant everything to her. Whatever the occasion was, she was there providing the best desserts to accompany the celebration!

Gerry is survived by her sister Shirley (Linden) Williams, stepdaughters June (Stan) Harris and Gail (Eddy) Fitzpatrick. Her sons Mike (Suzanne), Allen, and Jean-Marc Diotte (Heather). Her daughter-in-law Nancy (Stephen) Gilbert. Her grandchildren Jonathan, Robert, Jason, Todd, Kelly, Angela, Robyn, and Charles. And her great-grandchildren Joe, Sam, Darcy, Ada, Kayleigh, Theo, Sally, Olivia, Ryan, Kara, Jordyn, Elizabeth and James as well as all her nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her sister Géralline (Maurice) Roy, stepson Stephen and granddaughter Lori Harris.

At the request of the family there will be no visitation or funeral service.
