Passed away peacefully at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital (DECH) on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at the age of 87, Mrs. Klaartje (Carla) Harteveld of Point La Nim, beloved wife of Arie Harteveld.
Carla was born on December 13, 1938, in Scheveningen, Netherlands. On March 17, 1960, following their marriage, she and Arie embarked on a new adventure together, immigrating to Canada to build a future filled with opportunity and hope. With courage and determination, she embraced her new homeland, learning and adapting to Canadian traditions. She created a warm and welcoming home, nurtured lasting friendships, and dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her family.
Carla had a gift for working with her hands. She enjoyed gardening, boating, sewing, cooking, knitting, crocheting, and cross-stitching, and later in life discovered a passion for painting. Many family members will treasure the handmade pieces she lovingly created over the years.
She will be remembered for her kindness, quiet strength, generous spirit, and unwavering love for those around her. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the family she cherished, and the memories that will be held close forever.
She is survived by her husband, Arie; her four children, Harry (Donna), Richard (Lynn), Eleanor (Ellie), and Shauna; her ten grandchildren, Adam, Corey, Jason (Angelica), Amy, Eric, Stephanie, Colleen (Jon), Matthew, Trisha, and Dylan; and her five great-grandchildren, Aiden, Shyla, Seamus, Tegan, Hadley, Reese and Lauren.
Her family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of County Lane Estate and 4SW at the DECH for the compassion and exceptional care provided.
