At the age of 19 Leonard enlisted in the army as a gunner. He spent 4 ½ years in the European campaign in WWII. After the war, he worked in the mines and logging industry for several years. He then worked for the Butternut Bakery for 15 years and drove taxi until his retirement. Leonard was an avid sports enthusiast all his life. His enthusiasm and passion for sports and life was second to none. His last accomplishment was at the age of 90 where he climbed the Sugarloaf Mountain with many of his family members.
He is survived by his wife Andrea, 9 children and spouses, Paul, (Tracey), Gary, Mark, Craig, Jimmy, (Lucy), Joan, (Bill) Bruce and Pauline, (Tim) and brothers and sisters, Benoit, William, Edward, and Ernest. Leonard had 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter Paula, his brothers George, Henry, Doug, Adelore, and sisters Teresa, and Jeannine.
The visitation and Legion service will be held on Tuesday May 10, 2016 at Maher’s funeral home (33 Lansdowne Street, Campbellton, N.B.) from 7-9pm.
The Church funeral mass will be held on Wednesday May 11, 2016 at St Thomas Aquinas Catholic church (43 Andrew Street, Campbellton, N.B) at 2:00pm.
The family would appreciate a donation be made to the Canadian cancer society in your region.
