

Born in Matapedia on June 8th, 1919, he was the son of the late Stephen and Eleanor (McDavid) Wilson. A WWII veteran, Leonard enlisted in 1939, he served with the First Canadian Anti-Tank regiment in the Sicily, Italy and NW Europe campaigns. A lifelong member of the Matapedia community, Leonard was employed as local police, on the log drive, guiding, and for many years with the Riparian Association working on his beloved Restigouche River. During his retirement years, he could often be found sitting on his verandah overlooking the meeting of the Matapedia and Restigouche Rivers, watching the sports land their salmon.
Leonard is survived by his wife of 62 years, Isobel (McDavid) Wilson, and his children Reid (Susan), Sheila (Gerry), Ricky (Eileen), Allie (Doreen), Judy (Peter), Mike (Bob), Rodney (Cindy), Bill (Jodi), 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son David (Susan).
Interment was held at the Matapedia Protestant Cemetery on May 14th, 2012.
Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher’s Funeral Home, Campbellton.
