Matt was born in Harvey Station, NB on July 21, 1929 and was the son of the late Clarence David and Zella May (Wilson) Swan.
Matt was well known in the Campbellton area where he practiced as a doctor for more than 50 years. He was a passionate outdoorsman who loved farming, fishing, hunting, and telling a good story.
Matt is survived by his wife Sandra; daughters Jane Swan (Robert), East Garafraxa, ON; and Ann Swan Boudreau (Ernie), Bathurst, NB; as well as their mother Gladys Swan, Campbellton, NB. He was a much-loved grandfather to Jeremy Boudreau (Zhou Xue), and Brett Boudreau. He is also survived by daughter Marie; sister Eleanor Bartlett (Fred), Fredericton, NB; brother Burke Swan (Pat), Allentown, PA; and his nieces and nephews Sheryl, Cindy, Leslie, Camilla, David, and Michael. He was sadly predeceased by his son David, his sister Jo Hall, and brother in law Ken Hall.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at a later date.
The family is deeply grateful for the care that was given to him during the last months of his life at the Campbellton Regional Hospital and at the Centre D'Hebergement De New Carlisle in Quebec.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the SPCA or to the charity of your choice.
