W. Reginald Murphy passed away peacefully on November 18 at 90 years of age.

He was born and raised in Millerton NB, the son of the late Willis Murphy and Helen (nee Lynch) Murphy.

He was predeceased by his loving wife, Frances Lorraine Murphy (nee Mann, July 1, 1934 - December 1, 2013) to whom he was lovingly devoted through 58 years of marriage. Reg retired from CN after over 43 years service and, through his life, was an avid labour advocate, curler, skier, RV'er, shutter bug and true gentleman. He was a renowned curler who served as president of the Campbellton Curling Club, was a skip and team winner of many championships including two N.B. Mixed tournaments. He represented New Brunswick, In his third year of curling, at the 1961 Brier. He was a union steward for much of his working life and spent many nights and weekends tending to the needs of his members. Also an enthusiastic skier, he was often first in line before the tow opened and was almost always the first in line for the first ski day of the year. Another of his favourite pursuits was RV'ing with his brother Willis, meeting old and making new friends along the way.

He is survived by his three children, Kevin (Jeannette Cyr), Sean and Kenda (Kevin Jeffrey), his two grandchildren, Kassia Murphy Mass (Cory Maas), Karlee Murphy (River Isaac) his two great grandchildren, Mayven Isaac and Isla Maas as well as brothers Willis Murphy, Tim Murphy and their respective families.

Reg was a true gentleman with an infectious laugh who was admired and respected by all who knew him. His children, grandchildren and family loved and admired him beyond measure. His presence will be desperately missed by everyone.

Sean, Kenda & Kevin, and family

My deepest condolences on the loss of your father. A true pleasure to sit and chat with your dad either on the back porch or in the kitchen. I loved his laughter as he listened to our stories as we always came to your place in a group.

My sincere condolences to the family of Reg Murphy, I worked with Reg for many years in the union movement and Reg was a staunch advocate for our members. Reg and I worked in the same trade at CN which gave us insight into the requirements of the job and the needs of the workers. The labor movement has lost a real friend who will be greatly missed by all. Tom wood, Retired President of the BRC of Canada
