It is with great sadness that we, the family announce the passing of our mother, Stella (Gallant) Renouf on Tuesday, December 05, 2023 at the age of 88, at the Campbellton Regional Hospital. She was the wife of the late James Willis Renouf. With our sadness we can also take comfort knowing that she has been reunited with her husband, our dad.
Our mom was born on July 27, 1935 in Val D’Amour to the late Theodore Gallant and the late Melvina (Cormier) Gallant.
She leaves to mourn her children Murray Renouf (Cora), Gary Renouf (Jocelyn), Michael Renouf, Blanche Laxton (Ricky), Joy Ouellette, Gordon Renouf (Natacha), Willis Renouf (Brenda). She also leaves to mourn her cherished 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband James Willis, her son Dale and great-grandson Zachary.
She was the last surviving member of her siblings. Predeceased by her sisters and brothers Cecile, Mary Rose, Elizabeth, Julie, Frank (Tom), Joseph (Joe), Raymond and Edmond.
Mom grew up in a large family and started working at a young age until she was 20 years old and married dad and started their family. She took great pride and pleasure in raising her children. As we got older she allowed us, without interfering to make our own decisions (agree or disagree) but was there for us no matter the outcome of those decisions. If we were hurt she was there for all of us. She was happy and proud of our accomplishments and was there for us then also.
She loved gardening, nature, camping when we were young and fishing with dad every chance they had. She loved bingo and playing cards with family and relatives. She enjoyed road trips with any of her children and grandchildren.
We would like to express our appreciation and a special thank you to our sister Joy for her dedication as mom’s main caregiver during the last years of her life making it possible for our mother to remain at home.
If she could help us now she would probably say,
- you can shed tears because I am gone or smile because I lived
- you can pray I will come back or see all that I left for you
- your heart can feel empty or you can fill it with the love we shared
- you can remember only that I’m gone or cherish my memory and let it live on
Smile, open your heart, love, be kind and go on.
In keeping with her wishes there will be no visitation at the Funeral Home and no Funeral Service A Private Graveside Service will be held in the spring.
For those who wish, a donation in Stella’s memory can be made to the Friends of Healthcare Foundation or a charity of the donor’s choice.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at mahercampbellton.com for the family.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted in the care of Maher’s funeral Home, Campbellton.
