He was born in Atholville (Addington Parish) on November 6th, 1925 and lived in the Campbellton area all his life.
He was predeceased by his wife Lucienne (LaPlante), his daughter Bernice, his father Elie Gallant, his mother Dina(Arseneault), his sisters, Zita, Eugenie (Jannie), Delia, Leonie and his brothers, Sylvere, Frank, Alfred and Normand.
He is survived by his 3 children, his son Jules Gallant (Petit-Rocher) and his daughters, Diane Gallant (Saint-Antoine) and Geraldine Bailey (Tide Head). Also survived by his brother Ernest (Laura LeBlanc) Atholville and his sister Marie (Fernand Levasseur) Montreal.
He leaves behind his grand-children, Jeffrey and Alex Chouinard, Jason, Shanelle, Marc-Anthony and Helena Gallant, Robert Saucier(Brandy),Patrick Bailey (Krista), Jennifer Bailey Wyher (David) and 14 great-grand-children.
In his early years, he worked as a driver for Central Taxi. He then went to work and retired after 27 years of service as a clerk at the NB Liquor Store. He also worked part-time as a coat check at the old Main Brace and the Flag Ship.
He really enjoyed his camp in the South East. In later years, he enjoyed collecting especially license plates. He also enjoyed his many walks around town and the Sugarloaf Park and then coffee at Tim Hortons. He will be missed.
A memorial service will be held at Maher's Funeral Chapel on Thursday June 23 at 2 pm. Visitations 30 minutes prior to the service.
The family would like to thank all the employees from the Village Nursing Home and also the Nursing Staff from the Campbellton Regional Hospital and of course the staff of the Manoir de la Sagesse where he resided for 10 years.
The family suggest sending memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association.
