Passed away at the Bathurst Chaleur Hospital on June 22, 2020 at the age of 86, Mr. Walter Thompson of Campbellton New Brunswick. Loving husband to his late devoted wife of 53 years, Bertha Thompson (Blaquière).
Born in Campbellton on August 18, 1933, he was the son of the late Raymond Thompson and the late Rita Thompson (LeBlanc) and was also predeceased by his twin brother Henry and brother Charles.
He was High Sheriff and Coroner of Restigouche county until his retirement 1998. He was also a local businessman and was the founding father of Kodiak Lodge (Sugarloaf park) snowmobiling and skiing resort and ran a construction company along with rock crushing operations and welding and machine shop.
He is survived by his children, Dianne (Scott), Wilfred, Peter (Therese), Clifford (Elaine), Louise (Tim), Julie (Peter), Elaine (Rick) and Lisa (Greg) and by 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Also by his siblings, George, Erven, Chester, Marina, Rachel, Jean, Gail, Judy and Ruth. Lillian Letourneau, a loving caring soul to our father for many years.
The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff of both the Campbellton Regional Hospital and Bathurst Chaleur Hospital for the excellent care given to our father. A special thank you to the wonderful team at the dialysis clinic at Saint Joseph hospital in Dalhousie. You certainly gave not only great care but also your friendship which did not go unnoticed. The extramural nurses were the best and Physio, Tara… Your visits were always the highlight of his day.
A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Snow Church, Campbellton on Wednesday August 17, 2022 at 2pm.
Donations can be made to the Kidney Foundation or to the charity of the donors choice.

Il était le Haut-Shérif et le Coroner du compté du Restigouche jusqu’à sa retraite en 1998. il était aussi un homme d’affaire de la région et le fondateur du Kodiak Lodge (Parc Sugarloaf) une station de motoneige et de ski et a dirigé des entreprises de construction avec des opérations de concassage de pierre et une atelier d’usinage et soudage.
Il laisse dans le deuil ses enfants : Dianne (Scott), Wilfred, Peter (Therese), Clifford (Elaine), Louise (Tim), Julie (Peter), Elaine (Rick) et Lisa (Greg), 15 petits enfants et 12 arrières petits enfants, ses sœurs et frères : George, Erven, Chester, Marina, Rachel, Jean, Gail, Judy et Ruth et Lilian Letourneau, une âme aimante et bienveillante pour notre père depuis nombreuses années.
La famille désire remercier tout les Docteurs, Infirmières et le personnel de l’hôpital Régional de Campbellton et aussi l’Hôpital Chaleur de Bathurst pour les soins donné à notre père. Un remerciement spécial à l’équipe de la clinique de dialyses de l’hôpital St Joseph à Dalhousie. Non seulement que vous avez donné les soins nécéssaire mais l’amitié que vous avez démontrer n'est pas passé inaperçu. Les Infirmières de l’extramural et l’équipe de physio étais #1… Tara, vos visites faisaient toujours sa journée!
Les funérailles auront lieu à l'église Notre Dame des Neiges, Campbellton, le mercredi 17 août à 14h00.
Un don peut être fait à la Fondation du Rein ou à une charité au choix des donateurs.
Les arrangements funéraires ont été confiés aux soins du Salon Funéraire Maher de Dalhousie.
