Gerald Thomas Pope

Gerald was born March 26, 1939 in Akron, OH to the late Alexander and Elizabeth (Anderson) Pope. He attended Canton South High School, and enlisted in the Navy where he served for four years, and then spent 20 years in the Ohio National Guard. Gerald retired in 2003 after working 33 years for the Ohio Department of Agriculture in the Food Safety Division. He was a member of New Apostolic Church, Massillon. Gerald's hobbies included working in the yard, restoring his '49 Ford Coupe, bowling, water skiing, and attending his grandchildren's sporting events.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Alexander, Gene, William, Jack, and Lanny Pope. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Lois (Willaman) Pope; children, Mischelle "Missy" (Robert) Bales, of Green, Lee (Lori) Stockon of Dover, and Megan (Matthew) Walker of North Canton; grandchildren, Shannon Bales, Shane Bales, Aaryn Stockon, Hope Walker, and Paige Walker.

A visitation for Gerald will be held Friday, September 22, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Karlo-Libby Funeral Home, 5000 Everhard Rd NW, Canton, Ohio 44718, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM. Interment in North Canton Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Massillon New Apostolic Church or a charity of your choice.
