Eula Ray Jorgensen

Eula Ray Jorgensen, age 98, of Cape Coral, Florida passed away peacefully in her home located at the Palmview Community at Gulf Coast Village on January 9, 2026. She was born in Mount Vernon, New York on December 2, 1927.

In 1961 Eula and her family joined the other pioneer families of Cape Coral. For the next ten years she was actively engaged in community programs. She helped to expand the National Girl Scouts by serving on the board of the Gulfcoast Council, assisted with PTA fundraisers, and was a committee member of the Children’s Museum. For fun she played cards with her weekly bridge group, swam with the synchronized swim team, and discovered the joys and agonies of the game of golf. Eula won a number of local golf events and was the winner of the ladies’ championship at the Executive Golf Course four times- the last at age 80 plus.

After 20 years of “playing” she returned to the working world. Eula was a long-serving public servant for the local government of Cape Coral culminating with her appointment as City Clerk. She credited the success of her late-blooming career on a background of volunteer work and always urged others not to sell those unpaid experiences short. Eula retired in 1994 which gave her more time to chase the little white ball. She also enjoyed hosting card games and playing bridge with friends at Palmetto Pines Country Club.

Eula was preceded in death by her husband, Anton “Bud” Jorgensen, who passed away in 1995. She is survived by her three daughters, Diane Sherry (Markus), Lori Slusser (Scott, deceased), and Janice Birr (Allan). She will be missed by her grandchildren Ryan Sherry, Aaron Sherry, Eric Slusser, Kristen Rzonca (Michael), Randi Birr (Brett), and her great-granddaughter Audra Rzonca.

She will be laid to rest alongside Bud at a private ceremony in the Reflection Pond Garden at Coral Ridge Cemetery. Arrangements for Eula's final care have been entrusted to Coral Ridge Funeral Home, 950 Chiquita Boulevard S, Cape Coral, FL 33991, (239) 283-0540.
