

It is with great sadness that the family of Alfred Akar announces his passing on Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at the age of 84, at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital. Alfred was born to Asaad and Shamis Akar on April 4, 1934. He was the eldest son of 10 surviving children. He was baptized as a Seventh-day Adventist Christian at the age of 14, and spent 70 years faithfully serving the Lord and others. He was a loving and dedicated husband and father. He was a graduate of Middle Eastern College, an Affiliate of Loma Linda University, with Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics with a minor in Education. He was a Pastor, School Principal, and Teacher in Lebanon for 16 years, before his family immigrated to the United States; where he obtained his education in the new field of Computer Programming. Alfred worked as a Project Manager in Computer Programming for 32 years at JC Penney Corporation, and also worked for nearly 10 more years as a volunteer Math Teacher at the Miller Adventist Christian School/Knowledge Seekers Christian School after his retirement. Alfred will be lovingly remembered and missed by Yvette Akar, his loyal wife of 23 years, his daughter Lillian and her husband Jamal Farhat of North Brunswick, New Jersey, daughter Suzanne and her husband Nazir Asaad of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, recently deceased son Asaad Akar of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, step-daughter Michelle Stepp of Washington State, and step-son Emery Payad of Lewisville, Texas. He will also be sorely missed by his four grandsons, Ziad Farhat of North Brunswick, New Jersey, Majd Asaad of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and Daniel and William Mack of Washington State. In addition, he will be remembered with great love by his brothers, Emil Akar of Plantation Florida, Nabih Akar of Lebanon, Adel Akar of Lebanon, and Abdallah Akar of Exeter, New Hampshire; and by his sisters Najah Muallem of Lebanon, Laurice Bishai of Loma Linda, California, Widad Issa of Pasadena, California, Jehad Yasin of Miami, Florida, and Nour Issa of Ontario, Canada, and their precious families. He will also be warmly remembered by the rest of his large extended family, Church family, and by his dear friends around the globe. Alfred’s “Celebration of Life Ceremony” will be held on Sunday, December 2, 2018, at 3:00 p.m. at the Lewisville Seventh-day Adventist Church located at 1471 W. Corporate Drive, Lewisville, Texas 75067. Pastor and Evangelist Mark Fox will be officiating.
