Beth Ajeanne Jones
October 14, 1928 – January 10, 2020
Beth Ajeanne Jones went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, January 10, 2020 in Dallas, Texas. She passed away peacefully in her sleep following a lengthy illness. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Ted Newton Jones and her brother, Andrew Jackson “Jack” Evans. She is survived by her brother, Jim Frank Evans of Tool, Texas, her sons, Ted Newton Jones II of Granbury, Texas and Dr. Frank Lester Jones of Temple, Texas. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Emily Paige Jones of Holliday, Texas.
Born Beth Ajeanne Evans in Poyen, Arkansas on October 14, 1928 to Frank Lester Evans and Beulah Hope Evans, she grew up in Overton, Texas and later graduated from Overton High School. She attended Kilgore College and later attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. She was a member of the Gamma Omicron chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa academic fraternity.
Beth Ajeanne met her future husband Ted at S.M.U., and they were married on February 4, 1951. They settled in Dallas where they opened a gift shop that they operated for a period of two years. As time progressed, they would live in Colorado, Illinois, Texas and Hawaii, raising two sons along the way. In 1985, Beth Ajeanne and Ted moved to Munich, Germany for Ted’s job with the Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES). During those four years, they would see much of both Western and Eastern Europe. Upon their return to the United States, they would later take a trip to visit mainland China.
Beth Ajeanne worked briefly as a secretary but really enjoyed her years being a wife, mother and homemaker. She was an avid bridge player, a great cook and a wonderful hostess. She enjoyed singing and playing the piano. Beth Ajeanne was very active in the Presbyterian and Bible Churches, and she devoted much of her time assisting Christian missionaries throughout the world with correspondence and financial support. She was a wonderful woman of Christ, and she will be missed dearly.
A celebration of Beth Ajeanne’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 20, 2020 at Grace Bible Church, 11306 Inwood Rd., Dallas, Texas 75229. A reception at the church will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Alzheimer's Foundation of America, The Salvation Army, The National World War II Museum in New Orleans, Louisiana, or a charity of your choice.

Beth was an active member of the North Texas Chapter of the Army and Air Force Exchange Service Retired Employees Association. Beth attended numerous NTC AREA events. She always carried a smile and was eager to socialize with with other members. Beth was a dear, sweet person and will be missed.
