Beverly Jean Ellis Warren was born in Warren, Ohio, the eldest of 2 daughters to Yale and Elizabeth Ellis. She grew up in Alabama, spending most of her younger years in Tuscaloosa. Her father was the assistant band director of the "Million Dollar Band" of the University of Alabama, so "Roll Tide" was the family motto.
Beverly attended college for 3 years, but eventually changed directions, working as an executive secretary for Haverty's Furniture Corporation, one of the generation that used shorthand and typewriters. She later bravely moved to Texas on her own to become a stewardess for TransTexas Airlines. The job description had a minimum weight limit, which barely qualified her for the job. While working for the airlines she met a handsome mechanic and pilot, who would be her future husband, Ray Warren. Despite his antics of flying her upside down in his private plane, they fell in love and were married in 1956. They had three children, Debbie, Scott, and Lori. Shortly after marrying Beverly and Ray joined the Methodist church where Beverly served in the choir and as a Sunday school teacher. Beverly had a deep faith in Christ and there was never a question in the family of "will we go to church this Sunday?" The family was at church every Sunday, VBS, and many Wednesday evenings.
Beverly was the calm port in the storms of life for her family. She was always there for her husband, children, and grandchildren. She always put others first and was the greatest cheerleader for her family. Her family will always remember the way she supported them without judgement, just with love.
Beverly suffered the loss of her youngest daughter in 2009, followed by her husband Ray in 2016. Even during these difficult times neither her smile nor her trust in God ever wavered.
She is survived by her sister, Sandra White, daughter and son-in-law, Debbie & Roger Wise, son and daughter-in-law, Scott & Ann Warren, 5 grandchildren, Alex, Katie, Taylor, Jordi, and Hannah; and 7 great-grandchildren and one on the way, Caleb, Shawn, Ryker, Olivia, Aidan, Kaia and Evelyn.
A visitation for Beverly will be held Saturday, October 14, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at First Methodist Church - Carrollton, 2201 E Hebron Pkwy, Carrollton, TX 75007, followed by a funeral service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The committal service will follow with a procession to Hilltop Memorial Park, 1810 N. Perry Rd., Carrollton, Texas 75006.
