Debra Kay Rogers was a precious soul, who lived a life of caring, love, and grace. She left our world and her family at the age of 71 on Thursday, November 13, 2025. While her earthly home was in Plano, Texas she passed away at a wonderful care facility, T. Boone Pickens Hospice Center in Dallas, Texas.
Our sweet sister was the second born of our parents Wesley Wiley Rogers (1925-2001) and Janie Wilhelmina Lohmann Rogers (1932-2017) in Waco, Texas on June 26, 1954. She was the second born to Wesley and Janie. She and her older brother Marcus P Rogers eventually welcomed into the family two younger sisters, Cheryl and Suzette. Debra grew up within a loving Christian home and grew to become a wonderful Christian woman, who followed the example of Jesus Christ until her very last breath.
After her university education in nursing and obtaining the status of RN, she served for 40 years throughout Texas within newborn intensive care hospital units caring for and helping to save the lives of the smallest humans arriving to our world.
Debra was a highly creative and talented individual. She loved cake decorating and was always willing to share her talent with family and friends. Additionally, she loved to crochet, creating amazing blankets, tiny newborn hats & booties for the small souls she cared for. Her handiwork goes beyond that of just crocheting, though. She created lovely cross stitched wall hangings & book covers as gifts and decor. She was a genius when it came to sewing, even as far as making a beautiful wedding dress. She always was willing to help others without question not expecting anything in return. She was simply an amazing sister, good friend, and a wonderful human being.
While Debra never married or had children, she viewed all of her family’s little ones as her own. She loved our family with all of her heart and was always willing to give of her time, money, and talents to each of us. She even created a home for our parents and cared for them well into their aging years.
Debra is survived by her older brother, Marcus P Rogers, and his wife, Lucy Rogers, and Marcus’ son, Luke Rogers, and his wife, Emily Crockett Rogers, together with their two children Logan and Avery. She also leaves behind Luke’s mother, Marsha L Permentar. Upon her passing, Debra joined Luke’s brother, Drew Rogers, in heaven beside our parents and grandparents, all of which chose a Christian path in their lives.
Debra is also survived by her younger sister, Cheryl A Rogers Dunlap, and her husband, Pat L Dunlap plus their three children, Holly Dunlap Toulouse, and her husband, Rand Toulouse, along with their five children Colin, Kate, Laura, Janie-Grace and Matthew; Jennifer; and Jeramy.
Debra is also survived by her baby sister, Suzette Rogers Kern, and husband, Arthur J Kern III, and their two children Nicholas A. Kern and his wife, Lauren Chapin Kern, and Tara S. Kern.
Additionally, our extended family who is mourning Debra’s passing is our father’s brother, Virgil E Rogers II, and his wife, Catherine Conway Rogers as well as their two children Sharon D Rogers and Wesley D Rogers, and his wife, Nancy Goodwin Rogers along with their children. Debra also leaves her cousins: J’Laine Lohmann Fannon and her husband, Jack Fannon, in addition to their two children and grandchildren; Brenda Lohmann Hagler and her husband Charles Hagler; Micheal Lohmann and his wife, Allison Martin Lohmann, in addition to their four children & grandchildren; and Dean Creech and his three children.
God has blessed all of our lives with Debra’s presence. We love her and will miss her until we see her again; thus, we say good-bye for now to a precious lady and sister.
