2020. She was born July 24, 1940, in Eastland, Texas and later moved to Odessa, Texas
where she met and married her beloved husband, Don Vernon Bowen on July 26, 1957..
Jean was a devoted mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every
moment with Donny, Steve, and Tracye. She raised her children in Carrollton, Texas and
attended Central Park Baptist Church. She especially loved her role as Meme and dearly loved
each of her grandchildren Bradley, Morgan, Brittany, Travis, Garrett, McCaely, and her greatgranddaughter
Everette.
She spent her life helping others as a career long registered nurse. She started working at St.
Paul Medical Center in Dallas in June of 1971 and retired in 2002.
Her life was a living example of her favorite Bible verse, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your
paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6
