On February 14, 2019, Denise (Dee) went to be with the Lord. She was born on April 17, 1961 in Des Moines, Iowa. She grew up in Iowa and went to Iowa State University where she acquired a Bachelor of the Arts. She was part of the NKBA for many years. She was able to meet so many people from around the world and travel. She loved being a part of the NKBA. When she wasn’t busy designing kitchens and baths, she was home cross stitching for many of her friends and family. It was one of her favorite hobbies. Another favorite past time was working on jigsaw puzzles with family. She also loved her Iowa State Cyclones. She could never have enough Cyclones items. She was a very devoted member of Bent Tree Bible Fellowship. She always loved doing things for other people, no matter what it was. She loved her family very much, and always loved being around them. She could never get enough family time. She had two daughters with her husband Eric Dick. She is survived by her husband Eric, daughters Allison and Erin, her parents Don and Dorothy Amis, her siblings, brothers, Doug (Linda) Amis, Dan Amis, and her sister Debbie Amis. A Visitation will be held at Metrocrest Funeral Home on Wednesday February 20, 2019 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm. Eric & girls,
Dee worked for my Dad - Larry & Stella Fredriksen- for many years at Living Kitchens. We heard of your loss when looking for Dee to let her know about my Mom’s passing. I was just a young girl when Dee worked with Dad, but I remember her humor, smile, and vibrant personality. She baby-sat my sister and I when we were young... On behalf of our family, we send our condolences. Dee is fondly remembered - she was a blessing to this life.

Denise was only my co-worker for a short four months, but what an impact she had in my life and our office by what she demonstrated to us daily about her faith in God and love for her family. She loved God, Eric, Allison, Erin and her family so deeply and would share about them often.

Denise knew she was so loved by Eric and you could see it when they were together. I have not witnessed many loves as deep as the two of theirs.

Allison she was so proud of the woman you have become and that you cook for millions of Disney visitors every year having to keep up with what is running short, then baking it. Erin you could not have given her a better Christmas present than the one you gave her this past year.

I will miss our short breaks talking Instapot recipes, family and faith my friend. Dee, I know you are with HIM watching over us now still clowning around when you can......

Dee was an amazing person! I had the opportunity to share an office with her for four months and to say she was my Light in shining armor would be an understatement. I never tired of her antics and she could make the drabbest of days seem bright. One day I was working with a bunch of files and got a paper cut. She heard me say "Ouch" and the next thing I knew she was telling me to come into her office. She had a cleansing pad out, ointment and a band aid! lol I said "thanks mom!" She just laughed that laugh and told me to make a follow up appointment. We loved her so much and will miss her dearly. God, her family, friends and her church were most important to her and we always looked forward to any stories she had to share. I love you Dee!

It was a true blessing and a joy to know Dee. She was kind and she loved and served her friends and community well. I have many fond memories of our time in life group together. I think what I loved most about her was her sense of humor - wherever she was there was laughter ❤️ Eric, Allison abd Erin - KC and I love you and pray for grace and comfort for your family.

I cannot begin to express the extreme sadness I feel, on the passing of Eric's beautiful wife, Dee. As I'm sure most people will attest, you only had to meet Dee once to see what a caring and deeply devoted person she was to her family and friends, as well as her faith. Just listening to her speak about her family melted my heart and it was clear they were all safe in her caring hands. Allison and Erin couldn't ask for a better Mom and friend, nor could Eric have picked a better partner to share his life with. Hearing Dee speak about how Eric knew just how to counter any anxiety she was feeling at a given moment with his calm demeanor, made my heart smile and it was clear that their connection was deep and profound. To Dee's entire family, please know that you have friends who are here for you at this very difficult time. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

I went to Valley High School with Denise! I remember running on the 4x800 relay team with you ... I ran the 3rd leg handing the baton off to you as the anchor... one last time I will hand that baton off to you as I pray for your family during this difficult time and in my heart know you are making a grand entrance through those golden gates just as you did across that finish line! Thank you for all the words of encouragement and always lifting me up spiritually!!! You are loved!!!♥️♥️♥️

Denise was one the funniest, kindest and caring person, I have had the pleasure of knowing. It was evident how much you loved Eric, Alison and Erin. Volunteering for the NKBA was how I met you about 8 years ago. We both knew we were going to be lifelong friends. You were called to heaven way to early. Rest in peace my dearly missed friend.

What a precious lady with so much spunk and energy. I will miss you dearly my sweet friend. I am very sad I will not be able to make the services as I am having neck surgery Tuesday. Know I will be praying for you all and wish so much I was there to hug each of you in person. Love you all Eric, Erin and Allison. Prayers Teri.

Dearest Denise,

I only knew you for 6 short months, but you made quite an impact. Your laughter and wit at work made every day more interesting and fun. And your faith in God, and care and concern for others was a benefit to us all. We were blessed to have you with us. I know you will be watching from above.
