It is with a saddened heart that we announce the passing of Donald “Skeeter” Bettcher on July 30, 2019 in Carrollton, TX. He was born on September 26, 1948 to Ralph & Virginia Bettcher in San Antonio, TX and was raised on a 10 acre farm. As an infant, his dad and grandfather nick named him Skeeter and that was his lifelong name. He was a loving husband to Sue Bettcher for 37 beautiful years. They moved to the Dallas, TX area in the early 80’s after the telephone splits and retired from Southwestern Bell in February 2002. Skeeter loved life itself. He was very much an outdoorsman. He wanted to feel the sunshine and breeze on his face. Skeeter loved to hunt and spend time with his hunting buddies. His neighbors were envious of his manicured yard. He never met a stranger and could carry on a conversation with anyone at any place. He was kind, warm, positive, honest, quick witted, laughed, loved and always had a smile on his face even when he didn’t feel well. Skeeter was a no non sense kind of guy. He didn’t sugar coat words, always said what was on his mind whether you liked it or not. His favorite saying was “The good Lord always takes care of us.” His faith was strong. Skeeter loved his fur babies, Peaches, Beau, Rhett and Lexi. Skeeter kept hope and was determined to beat the cancer, but this was a battle he didn’t beat. The cancer took over and won. Donald is survived by his wife, furbaby, Lexi and many other family and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at Metrocrest Funeral Home in Carrollton, TX on Saturday August 10, 2019 at 12:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, a donation in his name to the following organizations would be appreciated: The American Cancer Society,The American Heart Association and Operation Kindness.
