

Don was born in Dallas, Texas on August 4, 1942 and was the youngest child of Maggie Meryl and J.W. Terry. His mother ensured that everyone knew that Don was crowned “King” at Fair Park’s Prettiest Baby competition when he was 7 months old. He grew up in Dallas and Fort Worth and graduated from Bryan Adams High School. Following high school, he enlisted in the Marines and served 6 years as a Flight Equipment Technician and was Merchant Marine Credentialed
After the Marines, Don joined Braniff Airlines and worked 18 years in ground operations. Following Braniff’s bankruptcy he joined Delta Airlines where he retired in 1993. Don was the founder and president of North Texas Inspections for 37 years and was a member of the Greater Denton Wise County Association of Realtors.
He was a self-made man and a true gentleman. Don credited his sense of duty, service, and honor to Tarrant County’s Panther Boys Club and the Marine Corp. His deeply loved this country, Texas and history. In 1982 he met Mia, the love of his life, and they enjoyed 33 years together often exploring Texas, travelling America and cruising the world. As an avid outdoorsman Don loved hunting and driving country back roads.
Everyone who knew Don experienced his kindness, generosity and big heart. His sense of humor and practical joking was legendary. He had a smile for everyone, never met a stranger, was a loyal friend and always had a story to tell. He will be deeply missed.
Don was predeceased by his parents and siblings, Harold Terry and Laura Baggett. He is survived by his wife Mia, niece Mary Ellen Citron, and best friend Wendell Glenn. The family wishes to express their deep appreciation and gratitude to the nurses and staff of Faith Presbyterian Hospice for their amazing care. A Celebration of Life service will be held January 11, 2025 at 1pm at The Little Chapel in The Woods on the campus of Texas Woman’s University, Denton, Texas. A gathering of friends will follow the service at their home.
