Eleanor L. Grays Butler

Eleanor was born in Spokane, Washington on 29 November 1945, to David M. and Mary Jane Columbus. She graduated from Lincoln High School and attended Prairie View University. Eleanor was married to Leon Butler Jr. on 14 February 1986; they were married for 36 years.

Eleanor worked as a Supervisor for GTE/Verizon for more than 30 years. She enjoyed reading, bingo, and traveling. She was also actively involved in Order of the Eastern Stars in San Angelo, Texas.

Eleanor is preceded in death by Leon Jr.; husband. Matron L. Jr., son. David M., father; Mary Jane, mother; Claude Edward Chew ; Brother, Margaret Ann Johnson, Sister; Jackie Larry Columbus, Brother.

Eleanor is survived by her brother David Columbus Jr. of College Station, TX, son Bryon Grays, of San Antonio, TX, Step Son Darius (Carole) Step daughters Yvetta Porter of Longview, TX, Leona Marie Burkes (Ron) of Longview, TX, Akisa Campbell of Euless, TX, and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Memorial Service for Eleanor is scheduled for 1 August 2026 at 11am at Temple Missionary Baptist Church, 638 Power Dr, Duncanville, TX 75116.
