Florella Ocampo ("Flor") Mulberry died on September 20, 2026, in Plano, TX at the age of 84 years and one day. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother whose kindness, generosity, and can-do attitude made a positive impact for her family and for her community.
Flor was born on September 19, 1942, in Pasay City, Philippines, to Florentino and Stella(Aragon) Ocampo. She attended St. Paul College of Manila for her entire education, from kindergarten through university. Flor had a brilliant mind, even at such a young age. She spent only one day in kindergarten before being moved up to second grade. She kept moving up from grade to grade through high school, entering college at the age of 14. She graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of science degree in accounting at the age of 18. After graduation, Flor spent many years working at SyCip Gorres Velayo & Company, the largest accounting firm in Asia at the time. She worked directly for the company’s founder, Washington SyCip, as his chief of staff. Later, Flor decided to move to the United States, relocating to Los Angeles, CA. She worked in accounting for several years at Arthur Andersen LLP and at Teledyne, Inc. She moved back to be closer to her family in the early 1970s and went to work at Sea-Land Service in the commercial operations division. It was there she met a co-worker based at Subic Bay Naval Base, Myron “Mike” Mulberry, who managed Sea-Land’s military operations in the Philippines. Mike became the love of Flor’s life. After a long-distance courtship between the naval base and the city, Flor and Mike married on June 21, 1975 and settled at Subic Bay. Flor and Mike enjoyed life at the naval base, especially when that life got busier with the addition of their daughter, Stella, in 1977. The following year, the Mulberry family relocated back to the States when Sea-Land transferred Mike to work in their Seattle office, and they settled in Renton, WA.
Flor spent much of her time volunteering at St. Anthony School and Parish in Renton, where Stella went to school and where the family attended church. In the 1980s, Flor wanted to create opportunities at St. Anthony to celebrate and uplift Filipino culture. She set up meetings, formed committees, and set plans in motion to create the Filipino-American Community of St. Anthony. The organization eventually boasted hundreds of members and held large fundraisers, including the Barrio Fiesta, which was an important event at the parish for many years. Among Flor’s academic and professional accolades, she was endlessly proud of her work to establish the Fil-Am Community, which positively influenced St. Anthony families for a generation.
Flor was well known all around the school and parish, and was like a second mother to many of her daughter’s friends. In 1992, Mike got transferred to Sea-Land's Dallas office. The Mulberrys made their home in Carrollton, TX. In 1999, Mike had the opportunity to take early retirement, and Flor and Mike’s favorite activity became spending time with each other every day. Whether running errands, cooking in the kitchen together (Flor as the executive chef, Mike as her sous chef), or watching movies in the evening, they would say that any time they were together was the best time. Mike never went to sleep without first telling Flor, "thank you for being so good to me," and indeed she was so good to him, and to countless others.
Flor is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Mike. Flor is survived by her daughter, Stella Mulberry Antic, Stella’s husband Daniel Antic, and their daughter, Flor and Mike’s "darling baby
granddaughter," Maria Antic.
A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at a later date at Prince of Peace Catholic Community, 5100 W Plano Parkway, Plano, TX, 75093.
Donations in Flor’s memory may be made to the Ursuline Fund at Ursuline Academy of Dallas, 4900 Walnut Hill Lane, Dallas, TX, 75229
