After sometime studying at Stephen F Austin State College, in 1969 he joined the US Navy. He was discharged in 1975 as an electronics mechanic. After leaving the Navy, he continued his working career as an electrician/electronics engineer working for companies associated with improving our country’s security. He traveled all over the world wherever he was needed in this endeavor. He was very patriotic and loved his country. He retired in 2016, to enjoy the easy country life and raise cows. He loved the outdoors, riding four wheelers, and being one with nature. His pastime hobby was to sit outside, read his books and watch for deer to appear in the pasture. He passionately loved his family and friends. Heaven gained an amazing angel and earth lost a great man with a heart of gold. He will be greatly missed. Memorial services are pending.
He is survived by his wife: Jenice Scott Shackelford of McKinney, daughter: Meredith Shackelford of Plano, daughter: Wendy Shackelford Baxter & husband Jason, grandchildren: Kristen, Grant, & Tyler, of Wylie, stepson: Jason Scott & daughter Nadia of Farmersville, stepdaughter: Megan Scott Davis & husband Jerry, grandchildren: Cameron & Carter, of Farmersville, sister: Cindy Shackelford Long & husband Wyatt of Blue Ridge, brother: Doug Shackelford & wife Diane, of Dallas, nephew: Miles Shackelford & wife Stephanie, great nieces and nephew: Hudson, Lily, & Charlotte, of Farmers Branch. He is preceeded in death by wife: Denise Winholt Shackelford, father: Frank Shackelford II and mother: Carlaine Shackelford.
