

YARBROUGH, Henry "Hank" Floyd Born on January 21, 1924, in Richmond, VA, but spent his formative years in Belington, WV. He joined the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1943, graduated from Navigation School in 1945 and served in the U.S. and China Theaters. Married Bette Haslam, Aurora, IL in 1946 and attended the Univ. of Illinois, earning a B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Bacteriology and Biochemistry. In 1953 he joined Magnolia Petroleum Co.'s Research Dept. in Dallas. He joined the U.S. Army Reserve in 1956 as a member of the 94th General Hospital and served in various capacities for almost 18 years, retiring as a Lt. Colonel in 1973. After 31+ years in various research capacities he retired from Mobil's Dallas Research Lab as Mgr. of Technical Training. His 30 retirement years were spent very enjoyably among social, volunteer and golfing activities. Meals-on-Wheels became his principal volunteer interest and over a 30 year period he delivered more than 1500 meals per year throughout Dallas County. Hank was preceded in death by his first wife Bette in 2002 and son, James in 2010. He subsequently married Eileen Billings Weaver who survives him along with his daughter, Teri Yarbrough from his first marriage. He is also survived by his second family, Meredith and Paul Manak and grandchildren, Rachel, Remy and Roan. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
