
Howard J. Sluder was born Feb. 2, 1942 to his father, Grady L. Sluder and his mother, Beulah Meadows Sluder in Asheville, N.C. Howard went to be with our Lord on Sunday, January 5th, 2025. After graduation from high school, he attended and airline school in Kansas City, MO, which prepared him for the love of his life, travel. Howard traveled extensively for the United States Air Force and for numerous Airlines before taking a job with a travel agency in Dallas, TX. He traveled extensively to places such as South America, The Orient, Asia, Africa, Europe and on numerous cruises. As Howard started aging, he decided to to take a job in Customer Relations for a local car dealership in Dallas, the Sewell Dealership , where he worked until he was 81 years of age. Howard was preceded in death by a sister, Hilda Sluder, and two brothers, Thomas and Mike Sluder. Remaining siblings include a brother. Leroy Sluder, and a sister, Bethany Lynn Sluder and a handful of nieces and nephews.
Howard was involved in establishing a local dog club called North Texas Samoyed Fanciers and the North Texas Samoyed Rescue. Howard enjoyed exhibiting his own dogs at dog shows all over the southern region of the US. Additionally, with the creation of the Rescue group, Howard was instrumental in saving over 50 dog's lives and rehoming them into their "fur-ever" homes. Additionally, there were a few "foster-failures" which meant that he ended up keeping them forever.
