Jessie Mae Brown, age 92, of Carrollton, Texas, passed away peacefully to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 15, 2025. Jessie was born on August 16, 1932, in Atlanta, Texas. She was the daughter of Mary Katherine and Frank Earl Loper and one of 10 children. Jessie was deeply loved by her relatives, church family, and friends.
She met the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Brown, while at Atlanta High School. The couple married in October of 1950, shortly after her graduation. She built a life as a devoted wife, adoring mother, and esteemed seamstress.
In the early years of her marriage, she spent time raising the kids and sewing while Bob finished college. Bob received an offer to teach as a professor and librarian at Northeastern Christian Junior College, which prompted a move to King of Prussia, PA, where they lived for 42 years. They eventually relocated back to Texas and lived in Carrollton to be closer to family. She enjoyed being back in Texas after so many years. Jessie was known to many as a friend, wife, and sister, but her favorite role of all was that of Mom and Mema/Grandma. She adored her children and was a loving and supportive mother.
In her free time, she enjoyed sewing, making wedding gowns, doing puzzles, cheering on the Eagles, and attending the Church of Christ, where she taught the toddler class in Sunday school for many years. She made a wonderful career as a seamstress and often had a needle and thread nearby. Her favorite thing was making intricate wedding dresses and bonding with the brides. Upholstery and sewing were passions of hers. She was also well known for her fashionable demeanor, always dressed head to toe in a stylish ensemble. She was never far from a tube of red lipstick and made sure that her nails matched. She loved spending time with her family and was especially proud of her loving grandchildren.
Jessie is preceded in death by her parents and 7 siblings. She is survived by her husband of 74 years, Bob Brown; sister Pauline Carnation; brother Charles Loper; and her five children, Larry Brown and wife Bonita, Carolyn Baither and husband Rick, Mark Brown and wife Isis, Robert Brown and wife Donna, and Lisa Lowary and husband Casey. Additionally, she is survived by her nine grandchildren Justin, Caitlin, Brandon, Daniel, Steven, Tracey, Nicole, Lexi, and Olivia. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Tessa, Troy, Kiersten and Ian.
Jessie cared deeply for others and was a bright light in this world. She will be missed dearly.
A memorial service will be held on March 4th, 2025 at Carrollton Church of Christ at 10am. 1023 Seminole Trail, Carrollton, TX 75007.
