September 14, 1931 — November 8, 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Leticia D. Carreras (Letty), aged 94, who departed this life on November 8, 2025, in Colleyville, Texas. Leticia was born on September 14, 1931, in Orocovis, Puerto Rico, to her beloved parents, Pedro Diaz and Florentina Burgos.
Leticia Carreras led a life filled with love, strength, and dedication. She was married for 44 wonderful years to her late husband, Command Sergeant Major Roberto Carreras, US Army, with whom she shared a deep bond of love and mutual respect. Together, they traveled the world, experiencing different cultures and making cherished memories. As a military spouse, Leticia learned resilience and adaptability, qualities that would define her character throughout her life.
Leticia was a devoted mother to her four children—Robert Carreras Jr., Hector (Robert H.) Carreras, Yvonne Thompson, and Pedro Carreras—who were the center of her universe. She took immense pride in her role as a mother and was often commended for the unwavering love she showed to her family. In addition to her children, Leticia's legacy will live on through her 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, all of whom adored her and were blessed to have her in their lives.
Throughout her life, Leticia was not only a nurturing figure at home but also an accomplished professional. While she embraced her role as a stay-at-home mom, she also found fulfillment in her career, retiring from Retail positions with the Army & Air Force Exchange Service. Leticia balanced her family life with her work so seamlessly that she often inspired those around her.
Leticia was a devout Roman Catholic, whose faith was a guiding light in her life. She loved the Church and held her beliefs close to her heart. Her passion for life was infectious. She loved to travel, exploring destinations across the USA, Europe, and the Caribbean, always embracing new experiences with open arms. Friends and family will remember her vibrant spirit—dancing, laughing, and bringing joy to every gathering.
Leticia Carreras was, above all, a woman of immense compassion and warmth. Her family was primary, and her legacy is one of love, laughter, and the joy of togetherness.
A Memorial Celebration is scheduled for mid-December 2025 in Southlake, Tx. and will be announced shortly. An internment service to honor Leticia's extraordinary life will be held on February 9, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Puerto Rico National Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her late husband Roberto. Leticia may have left this world, but the love she shared and the memories she created will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
In her graceful departure, we celebrate her life and the indelible mark she has left on us. Rest in peace, dear Leticia. You will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
