Lydia Acevedo Mendieta

Lydia was born on February 2, 1962 to Angelita Benavides and the late Rene Acevedo. She was an eccentric woman with a caring soul, who was quick to lend a hand to anyone in need. She is the perfect representation of how Christ wants us to live. Throughout her life she fed the hungry, gave money to anyone in need, and provided shelter to the homeless.

She is survived by her loving husband, Fortino; four children, Angie, Sandy, Mickey and Fortino Jr.; one adopted son, Miguel; and nine grandkids. Lydia leaves behind six sisters, one brother, numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. She is preceded in death by her sister Rosa Maria Aguero.

A visitation for Lydia will be held Monday, January 9, 2023 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at Rhoton Funeral Home, 1511 South Interstate 35E, Carrollton, TX 75006. A funeral service will occur Monday, January 9, 2023 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM, 1511 South Interstate 35E, Carrollton, TX 75006. A committal service will occur Monday, January 9, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Calvary Hill Cemetery, 3235 Lombardy Ln, Dallas, TX 75220.
