
Margaret Mae Spencer was born on Feb. 19, 1926 in Sioux City, Iowa. Her parents were Faye and Jeannette Rorapaugh. Her husband Earl Spencer passed away in 2002. She is survived by her son Jeffry Spencer, his wife Anna Charlene Disney and his two sons, Yuuki Spencer and Sean Spencer, and her son Richard Spencer, his wife Jayne, and their three children, Joel Spencer, Brent Spencer and his wife Elaine, and their daughter Jessica and her husband Luke Rose.
Margaret lived a full life. At the age of 18 she earned her pilot’s license and was invited to join the Ninety-Nines, an international organization of women pilots, Amelia Earhart being the first president. She married her husband Earl in 1946 before graduating from Morningside College and they finished their degrees at Penn State University. Immediately upon graduation, her husband joined the Air Force as an officer, and together they had a great life together living in Pennsylvania, Alaska, Florida, Japan, Ohio, California, Thailand, and finally moved to Richardson, Texas in 1969. After working several years as a Teacher’s Aid, she earned her Masters Degree from Texas A&M Commerce, and taught 5th grade at O’Henry Elementary in the Richardson School District for many years.
She was a committed member of P.E.O. and several other professional organizations. She loved family, traveling the world, and painting ceramics. She attended First Methodist Church of Richardson and then Fellowship Bible Church North in Plano for many years. She was a special valued friend to many. She ends her life here at the age of 91, and her next adventure begins.
