Nancy Meshell May

Nancy Meshell May died on June 17, 2026, in Carrollton, Texas after a brief illness. She was born in East Texas in 1930 to Arthur Clinton Numsen and Mary Louise Sandefer. She attended Texas State College foe Women, now Texas Women's University, for one year before becoming a secretary in Tyler, Texas where she met her first husband. They married, moved to Shreveport, Louisiana and had two children. Over the years, job transfers took them to Dallas and Houston, Texas, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Norwalk, Connecticut before she returned to Dallas. There, she met and married Hugh P. May. They were happily married for 36 years, until Hugh’s death in 2017. They were active square dancers and loved to travel. For many years, Nancy worked as a claims adjuster for a moving company, and she volunteered at her church. But her favorite activity was playing bridge. Nancy outlived her parents, A.C. and Louise Numsen, her sister Patsy Numsen, and two husbands. She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Meshell, and son Jerry Meshell, wife Debbie, and grandson Brian Meshell. She dearly loved her close friends, Sue Fisher, Aggie Gore, and Betty McAlpin. Thank you to all her care givers who helped her reach her 96th birthday. There will be no funeral but there will be a remembrance get together in a few weeks.
