Robert was born February 21st, 1946 in Detroit, Michigan to his loving parents, William and Frances Wysocki Schaibley (both deceased). He was baptized on July 7, 1946 at Jehovah Lutheran Church in Detroit, MI and confirmed May 17, 1959 at Greenfield Peace Lutheran Church also in Detroit (presently, Shadow of the Cross Lutheran Church, Farmington Hills, MI).
After graduating high school, Robert received a Bachelor’s of Science from the University of Michigan in 1968. In 1972 he received his Masters of Divinity from Concordia Seminary in Springfield, ILL Robert served his pastoral vicarage at Bethany Lutheran Church in Naperville, ILL. On June 4, 1972, Robert was ordained in the Lutheran Ministry (Lutheran Church Missouri Synod) at Greenfield Peace Lutheran Church, Detroit MI. He subsequently served as a Pastor for Bethany Lutheran Church in Naperville, IL; St. John Lutheran Church in Frasier, MI; He was the 1st Campus Pastor at Concordia University in River Forest, IL; He also served as a Pastor for Zion Lutheran Church in Laramie, WY; as Senior Pastor for Zion Lutheran Church in Ft. Wayne, IN; and an Administrative Pastor for Shepherd of Springs Lutheran Church in Colorado Springs, CO. In 2018, Robert received the honorary title as Pastor Emeritus. Due to his health he retired to Texas.
Robert was active in each community he served, especially with the youth. He greatly enjoyed taking the churches youth on camping trips and also loved working with them and encouraging them to further their education, especially in joining the Lutheran Ministry. While serving in Fort Wayne, he worked diligently to help develop a Lutheran model of classical education. He was also very instrumental in supporting the formation of the CCLE (Consortium for Classical Lutheran Education).
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 48 years, Eunice Schaibley of Plano, TX; sons, Kevin Schaibley of Brighton, MI, Dean (Erica) of Las Vegas, NV, Christopher Schaibley of Colorado Springs, CO and Robert J. Schaibley of Celina, OH; daughters, Erika Mildred (Colin) of Plano, TX and Leonora King of Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren, Anthony, Victoria, Thalia, Natalia, Michelle, Michael, Kylee, Emma, Jordan, Joelle, Addison, Peyton, Tarynn and Gabrielle. He also leaves his sister, Marilyn Mills of Miami, FL.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 28, 2022 from 9am to 10:30am at Faith Lutheran Church in Plano, Texas, 1701 E Park Blvd, Plano, TX 75074. A funeral service will follow with the Rev. James Woelmer officiating.
