Sam Henry Walker, Sr., born in Cane River, Louisiana to Frank and Hannah Walker on January 31, 1942. He moved to Dallas in the early 1960s to pursue career opportunities. In 1966, he was married to Vera Walker. Twelve children came from this union. He was a devoted and hardworking father.
Sam’s career in engineering extended nearly three decades. As an adept engineer, he was highlighted for his achievements at Otis Elevator in a major Dallas newspaper in 1981. He worked for nearly twenty years in aviation as the go to person in the Turbulence Division before retiring in 2001.
He had a desire to be a man of the Lord. He served at Northpark Baptist church at various areas such as deacon, and treasurer until early 1980s. In 1988 we began attending Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church as a family. In 2004 he was ordained as a deacon. In his bass voice he would recite bible verses by memory. These vivid memories instilled in us the power of prayer and faith in God.
Sam was an avid fisher. He would share fishing tips and life lessons on the spot. He was also a Dallas Cowboys fan. Watching the Dallas Cowboys and football became a family pastime.
