Sean was a devoted father and hardworking man with a deep love of machines, cars, boats, airplanes, and classic country music. He served honorably in the United States Air Force, proudly continuing a long family tradition of military service. Family memories are filled with his intense silliness, spot-on character impressions, and constant jokes. Despite these moments of joy, Sean faced significant challenges with alcoholism and mental health. Though these illnesses weighed heavily on him, he continued to show lightheartedness, humor, and resilience whenever he could. His family asks that his story serve as a reminder of the importance of compassion and support for those battling addiction.
Sean is survived by his loving parents, Michael and Sheryl Smith; his devoted sister, Cassandra Elmore, and nephew, Scott Elmore; his two daughters, Lillian Lea Smith and Kayla Ann Lington; and his son-in-law, Ethan Lington. He is also survived by his four young grandchildren, Kayleigh Rose, Joseph, Michael, and Gabriel Lington.
Additional survivors include his grandmother, Bobbie Farmer; Aunt Kathleen and Uncle Steve; Aunt Diane and Uncle Wes; and cousins Kelli, Kristi, Stephenie, Jennifer, and Matthew.
Sean was preceded in death by his grandfather and namesake, John Farmer, and his grandparents, James and Patsy Smith.
Sean will be laid to rest with full military honors in a private ceremony at the DFW National Cemetery. The family asks for prayers for his soul and for strength and comfort in the days ahead.
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
