CASA GRANDE - Amarante Alonzo Quintana, 81, of Casa Grande died on Sept. 14, 2016, at home after fighting a long illness.Mr. Quintana was born on Feb. 5, 1935, in Juanita, Colorado, to Amarante and Fabaina Quintana. He served in the Army in the Korean War and received the Purple Heart Medal twice. He met the love of his life, Maria Elena, in 1950 and married her on Nov. 3, 1952. He worked in a sawmill in Colorado and then went to work in a copper mine.He enjoyed going to casinos, watching his cowboy movies and buying scratcher tickets. He was devoted to his family.He is survived by his wife; a son and four daughters, Bernardo Quintana, Carol Gonzalez, Eleanor Garcia, Arlene Garcia and Joanna Baca; two brothers, Ike and Manuel Quintana; 10 sisters, Thefolia Sanchez, Francis Maes, Mary Richter, Bernie Gargaro, Vera Valdez, Arabella Garcia, Veronica Vocola, Viola Aguilar, Priscilla Robinson and Margie Martinez; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, George Quintana, and a grandson, Bernardo Quintana Jr.J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
