

SACATON - Genevieve Kisto Jones, 66, of Sacaton died on Sept. 10, 2016, at Caring House.Mrs. Jones was born on Nov. 24, 1949, in Bapchule to Paul Kisto and Emily James. Also, her aunt Pracilla Cook was like a mother to her. She was a very hard worker with a "warrior spirit." She was a caring and spontaneous person and worked in the health care field as a licensed practical nurse for over 20 years. She was a firm believer in higher education.She loved to read, and her favorite authors were Nora Roberts and especially Louis L’Amour. She liked her crossword puzzles, Cheez-It crackers and Coke. She loved to dance and loved her chicken scratch music. To her grandchildren she was very supportive; her granddaughter Angel Marrietta was her reason for living. She could speak the O’odham language fluently because it was the only language that her grandparents would let her speak.Survivors include three daughters, Jennifer and Paula Jones and Leslie Marrietta; a son, Kenneth Marrietta; seven sisters, Elmira Rodriguez, Shirley Castro, Germaine Ochoa, Marcieann Daley, Arlene Cook, Jeannie Cook-Marquez and Vickie Cook; three brothers, Silas and Kenneth Kisto and Merle Kelly; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five sisters and brothers, Marlene Cook, Michael Kelly Jr., Irvin Pablo, Carmelita Marrietta and Glenna Kisto, and her husband, Edwin D. Jones.Visitation will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday at the District 3 Service Center. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 8 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony Catholic Mission in Sacaton.
