Irby May Dismukes Celaya

CASA GRANDE - Irby May Dismukes Celaya passed away at home surrounded by her family on July 22, 2018. Mrs. Celaya was born on August 11, 1930 to Dovie May Idell Dismukes and Henry Irby Dismukes in Webb, Mississippi. The Dismukes Family moved to Casa Grande in 1932. They lived in Casa Grande until Irby completed junior high school. Shortly thereafter, the family moved to Florence, Arizona when her father took a job at the Florence Prisoner of War Camp. It was in Florence where she met the love of her life, David Encinas Celaya. They were high school sweethearts and were married on December 24th, 1950 in Florence, Arizona. Mrs. Celaya worked as a seamstress in quality control for Levi Strauss, California Girls Wear, and most recently retired from Arizona Training Program at Coolidge as a sewing room supervisor. She enjoyed spend-ing time with her children, grandchildren, and family friend, Barb Foster, always cooking for family gatherings, watching Phoenix Suns basketball, and loved watching her favorite shows on television. She was a devoted Catholic and had true faith in God. Survivors include a son, David Celaya Jr. (Sarah); a daughter, Ann Celaya Bagnall (Matthew); two grandchildren, Melissa Celaya Lawlor (Bryan) and Kathryn Bagnall-Wheeler (Matthew); two great-grandchildren, Kylie Ann Bagnall and Joseph Tristan Wheeler; a brother, Nolan Dismukes (Helen) of Gilbert, Arizona; two sisters, Brenda Dismukes of Helena, Montana, and Vontice Coulter of McFarland, Wisconsin and many neph-ews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband, David; four sisters, Margaret Milo, Edice Ivins, Edis Jacobs and Ouida Carlile and one brother, Robert Dismukes. Rosary to be held at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Florence, Arizona beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 3, 2018; Funeral Mass celebrated at 11:00 a.m., with Reverend Ariel Lustan officiating. Reception immediately following the Mass at Phelan Hall. Private burial at Florence Cemetery later that afternoon.
