CASA GRANDE - Laura Gamez-Ornelas, 84, of Casa Grande died on Aug. 8, 2015, at Aspen Court assisted living.Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel, with rosary recited at 7. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church by the Rev. Ariel Lustan. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.Mrs. Ornelas was born on April 12, 1931, in Tucson and was a daughter of Conrad Gamez and Beatrize Gastelum. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Anthony’s Church, Guadalupana Society and Veterans of Foreign Wars Women’s Auxiliary. She enjoyed collecting porcelain dolls and scrapbooking, among other hobbies. She was a faithful member of Virgen de San Juan Basilica.Survivors include her husband, Edward R. Ornelas; two daughters, Lydia O. Montijo and Gloria O. Amado of Casa Grande; four sons, Eddie Ornelas of Casa Grande, Dr. Victor Ornelas of Ephrata, Pennsylvania, John and Dr. Steve Ornelas of Phoenix; two sisters, Lydia Sanchez of Phoenix and Mary Hernandez of Casa Grande; two brothers, Raul and Ruben Gamez of Casa Grande; 20 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
