Throughout his life, Ruben had a deep connection to cattle ranching and hunting, having proudly worked as a cattleman. In his younger years, he also enjoyed playing baseball and basketball, the time spent socializing with family and friends. His storytelling led him to share many memorable tales of ranch life and his experiences working with cattle. His beloved dog Sadie brought him great joy.
Ruben is survived by his nephew Everett Ortega (Ursula Enos) and a brother, Manuel Garcia. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lupe Garcia, a brother Ignacio Garcia, a sister Tisha Garcia, and a stepson, Lester Lispin.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Stuha Bidag, North Hickiwan Community, beginning with a mass at 9:00 a.m. Following the service, burial will take place at the Garcia Family Cemetery on the Tohono O'odham Nation.
