On April 6, 2026; CATHERINE E. BRUSINI, age 107 passed away. She is the beloved daughter of the late Louis and Rose Brusini; dear sister of Joseph Brusini, and the late Julia Thompson, Lillian Courtney and Louis Brusini. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Catherine was born in Baltimore on November 9, 1918, and grew up in St. Martin's parish. She was the eldest of five children with two sisters and two brothers. She graduated from Western High School. When her mother became a widow, she went to work in the family business, a bakery supplying many Baltimore restaurants, hospitals, and hotels. She started at the age of 14 in sales, then ran the buying and shipping departments and eventually became the General Manager. After the bakery was sold in 1965, she went to work at the Social Security Administration as an HR specialist until retiring in 1988.
In retirement, she did volunteer work and lovingly cared for her elderly mother. She was an active member of Court Caton, CDA, and a longtime member of St. William's Church. in 2002, She moved to the Charlestown Retirement Community, becoming a member of Our Lady of the Angels parish. Miss Cass, as she was called by all in Charlestown, was known for charity work there, her welcoming personality, and her love of shopping, always looking for a bargain.
At the age of 99 she had a fall (as walking too fast as she always did) and broke her femur, which is the only thing that has slowed her down. Although limited physically, she continued to enjoy meeting friends, watching game shows on TV, and perusing Treasure Sales when available.
After leaving Charlestown, Catherine resided at Loren assisted living facility in Maryland and could be found out and about in her wheelchair greeting people, enjoying time sitting on the front porch and taking in the sun. When asked why she thought she lived so long, she said "to keep moving."
Catherine's life story is a testament to resilience, hard work, and the importance of family and community. Her vibrant spirit and wisdom continue to inspire those around her.
Family will receive friends from 11-11:30AM, Friday, April 17 at Our Lady of the Angels Chapel at Charlestown Retirement Community, 711 Maiden Choice Lane, Catonsville, MD 21228.
