Gwen is survived by her husband William Robert Webb, her son Evan, and grandson Devin. Gwen and Bob were married for 55 years. Gwendolyn was the oldest daughter of the late Orin Lewis Hughes (Lew-Lew) and Julia Madeline Hughes (Madge); and had a younger sister, Valerie, and a younger brother, Orin, both also deceased.
Gwen had a great love of literature and poetry, and loved to read and review books from many genres but was particularly fond of those on houses and decorating. One of her favorite pastimes was her membership in a book group of good friends to which she belonged for more than thirty years. She studied French at Catonsville Community College and was able to use her skills during several trips to France and Quebec. While reading stories as a child, Gwen dreamed of travelling to exotic places, and her dreams were realized with many vacation trips with her husband and son around the USA including Hawaii, and to Europe and Asia. Gwen also loved classical music, especially piano music such as Chopin.
Gwen lived in Baltimore and then Woodlawn as a child and into early adulthood. Gwen was very interested in fashion as a young woman and worked as a fashion model in the big department stores in downtown Baltimore, and then later as a teller and loan processor for a local bank. When she and Bob were married in 1958 they bought a ranch-style house in Reisterstown. Their next move in 1968 took them to Catonsville where they bought a Cape Cod house and had fun making improvements and raising a family until 1998. Gwen and Bob’s last big project was moving to the house on Rustic Lane in Elkridge which they restored.
