Sandra Mary Bernadette Tempera White (Sandy) died at Gilchrist Hospice Center in Towson, Maryland on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 of liver disease and stroke complications—she was 71 years of age. Sandy was born on August 26, 1942 in Baltimore, Maryland to Joseph Tempera and Blanche VanKirk. At age 18, Sandy married Carl Herbert White, Jr. and they had five daughters: Shari, Suzanne, Stephanie, Samantha, and Shannon. Sandy devoted her life to her daughters as a mother and homemaker, particularly to her youngest daughter, Shannon, who was born with cerebral palsy. When she could get out of the house, Sandy enjoyed shopping, going to the movies, playing the slot machines, and eating out. She was a generous woman who loved to buy gifts for other people.
Sandy is predeceased by her daughter Shannon (February 16, 1994), her husband Carl, (December 26, 2010), and three of her brothers, Alex, Ricky, and Michael. She is survived by her children Shari, Suzanne, Stephanie, and Samantha and their spouses, her grand children Savannah and Samuel, her brother Joe and sister-in-law Janice, and her cousin Bobby.
Memorial donations can be made in loving memory of Sandra White to Gilchrist Hospice Center, Towson, who the family thank dearly for making the last two weeks of Sandy’s life peaceful. Albert Einstein says that, “Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile.” Sandy lived for her family, and their happiness was her happiness. She was caring, brave, and selfless. She will be missed tremendously.
