Craig Jeffrey Huffman
March 20, 1970 – April 29, 2018
Craig Jeffrey Huffman, 48, of Centralia, passed away at his home on April 29th, 2018.
He was born in Reedsport, Oregon, on March 20th, 1970. He grew up in Centralia, and attended Centralia High School. He served our country for four years with the United States Navy, and was on the warship USS McHenry going through Kuwait during the Gulf War. Of the many places he traveled during his time in the Navy, Kenya, Africa, was by far his favorite.
Upon his return from the military, he went on to be a heavy equipment operator in the woods for over twenty years; working at North Fork Timber, Grose Construction, and most recently, Chilton Logging.
In his down time, Craig had a love for many things, like racing cars at South Sound Speedway, watching and attending NASCAR races and Seahawks games, skiing, skydiving, bungee jumping, fishing, hunting , and most importantly, spending time with the people he loved.
There was no question that Craig put a smile on the faces of everybody around him. He had an infectious smile and laugh, and a sense of humor that only those who knew him would appreciate and understand. He touched the hearts of everyone he crossed paths with, and will be missed dearly by many. His selfless nature and compassion was one of a kind. There truly will never be another person like him.
To his last days, he would never turn down an adventure. To say the least, he lived a fun, fearless life of endeavors that not many have the chance to experience. Even after traveling all over the world, there was no place he would rather be than at home with his girls, including our dog, Charlee, or as he called her, Wiggles.
Craig is survived by his loving wife, Samantha ‘Sam’ Huffman; daughter, Taylor ‘Ti’ Huffman, who is a spitting image of him; mother, Chuckie Huffman; grandfather, Wesley Earle; brothers, Randy (Dalora) Huffman, Chuck (Carrie) Newbury, Brad Newbury, Lee (Angie) Newbury; brother from another mother, Steve Nelson; in-laws, Mike (Betty) Nelson; and numerous cousins and nephews. He and his nephew, Tyler Wright, always had a very special bond.
He is preceded in death by his father, Ron Huffman; his hero and mentor, Lee Cox; and his favorite hunting buddy, Dega. May they continue getting all the birds.
A Celebration of Craig’s Life will be held at 2:00 PM on June 16, 2018, at the American Legion Hall, 111 W Main Street, Centralia, WA. All are welcome to share memories of this great man.
