She, with her Mother and sister, later moved to Montana where Frank Proteau became part of the family whereupon they decided to move to Milwaukee, Oregon. Frank was a special step-dad in Edith's life but sadly was killed in 1938. Edith attended elementary schools in Milwaukee and Portland Oregon before moving with her family to the Lewis County area. While attending Napavine High School she met the love of her life, Fritz Blaser at a local dance. They married in 1949 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church and settled in Centralia where they raised 5 children. Edith was a homemaker while assisting in the family co-owned business, Blaser Bros. Midway Dairy.
She enjoyed gardening, cooking and reading; however, family gatherings were the highlight of her life. She and Fritz also enjoyed many "Husky Football" seasons with the Zaikowski family, attending Swiss events and going to their Arizona residence for the winter months. Most importantly, she loved her family.
In 2004, after 55 years of marriage, Fritz passed away. In 2010 Edith moved to Sharon Care Assisted Living and became close friends with many of its residents and staff members.
She is survived by sons Al (Gail) Blaser of Centralia, Jerry (Chris) Blaser of Olympia; daughters Jan (Steve) Engler of Chehalis, Joyce (Tom) Helm of Chehalis and Judy (Larry) Fagerness of Centralia; grandchildren Johnny (Kasey) Trodahl, Jared (Alicia) Trodahl, Jason Trodahl, Jessica (Cyle) Boeck, Jamie Helm, Kindra (Michael Ropka), Kara (Aaron) Sells, Kevin Engler, Cheryl (Jon) Markestad, Shawn (Lara) Blaser, Luke Blaser, Lauren Blaser, Rissa Smart, Riki Smart, Blair Fagerness, Drew Fagerness and 19 great grandchildren who will miss her.
