Fred is survived by his mother, June Young; his daughter, Tanya (Mike) Pallas; and his sons, Todd Young, Travis (Amy) Young, and Troy (Jason) Young; grandson, Tyler Pallas; and granddaughter, Megan Pallas. He is also survived by his brother, Kevin (Margaret) Young; numerous nephews; and a niece who was very special to him, Julie (Dave) Pendleton.
He was preceded in death by his father Fredrick Young Sr., and his siblings Karen Young and Dick Young.
Fred was born in Chehalis, Washington on March 4th, 1948. He grew up on Claquato Farms alongside his siblings, surrounded by horses and dairy cows. Fred graduated from W.F. West High School in 1966. Though he often said he was too busy with his horses for any sports, he turned out for wrestling almost every year.
From the young age of four, Fred’s greatest passion in life was all things horses. He spent his days among a close-knit community of friends, who were like family and shared his love of horses and the outdoors. In recent years, he found much joy and great success in cow penning and sorting. He will be remembered for his love of horses, his appreciation for the outdoors, and his enthusiasm for helping others in the horse community.
Fred’s ashes will be spread at one of his favorite spots, with a view of all three mountains. A celebration of life will take place at Dick’s Brewery on June 28, 2026 at 1:00pm.
