With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Gary Lee Cadwell, a devoted father and cherished friend, who left us peacefully on January 30, 2025, in Centralia, Washington. Born in Laramie, Wyoming, Gary brought joy to those around him from the moment he entered this world. He was the son of Clarence and Geneva Cadwell, and he carried the values instilled in him by his loving parents throughout his life.
A proud veteran, Gary enlisted in the Army in 1959 and was honored with the Good Conduct Medal at the end of his service. His commitment to community extended beyond his military service; for over 34 years, he served as a volunteer firefighter, demonstrating his dedication to helping others. Gary's vibrant spirit also led him to contribute to various civic organizations, including the Boy Scouts, Elks, Eagles, Legion, and Moose Lodge.
Gary's career as a "phone man" spanned several decades, working with MaBell through various company name changes. In his retirement, he proudly opened his own telephone company, Cadwell Communications, where he took great pleasure in hooking people up.
An avid outdoorsman, Gary found joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly hunting with friends and family. He had a remarkable ability to find humor in everyday situations and was known for his collection of "Dad Jokes." In Gary's honor, his family encourages everyone to share a joke that he would have loved, keeping his infectious laughter alive.
Gary was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Clydeen Cadwell, who he married in 1971; parents Clarence and Geneva; brother Jesse; sisters Randi and Imogene; and his precious daughter Mary Ann Cadwell. He is survived by daughters, Paula Kay Hart, Tracy (Danny) Jarvis, Randi Cadwell, Becky (Jim) Martin, and Molly (Ben) Cadwell, along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will forever cherish his legacy.
As we remember Gary, we extend heartfelt gratitude to the nurses, CNAs, and doctors at Providence Centralia Hospital, who provided exceptional care and compassion during his last weeks. We are eternally grateful for their kindness and dedication.
In this time of sorrow, we celebrate the legacy of Gary Lee Cadwell—a man who lived fully, loved deeply, and brought laughter into our lives. May he rest in peace, knowing he will always hold a special place in our hearts.
