

Gordon was born in Aberdeen, Wash., to Franklin and Julia (Hintz) Boyd and moved to Centralia at the age of five with his family. He attended schools in Centralia, graduating in 1953. He joined the U.S. Army on Oct. 15, 1953 and was honorably discharged on Sept. 6, 1956. He married Dorothy Malnerich on Dec. 30, 1953. Following his military service, he was employed by Yard Birds as a clothing buyer for twenty three years. Following his retirement, he devoted himself to family and farming.
Gordon was preceded in death by his father, Franklin Boyd and mother, Julia Smiley, brother, Frank Boyd, sons, Gary Michael and Franklin John, and a daughter, Mitzie Lee.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy at home in Chehalis, children, Gordon R. Boyd of Centralia, Dottie L. Tobin (Russell) of Chehalis, Julie Ann Horsley of Centralia, Cindy Jo Boyd (friend Gary) of Prinville, Ore., Sandy Kay Young (Dave) of Chehalis, Samuel Boyd (Cindy) of Syracuse, N.Y., Edward G. Boyd of Chehalis, and Coralee Taylor (Chad) of Chehalis. Gordon is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial mass for Gordon Boyd is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m, Friday, July 20, 2012 at St Joseph Catholic Church in Chehalis with Fr. Armando Red presiding. A gathering to share memories at Forest Grange, 3397 Jackson Hwy., Chehalis, will immediately follow the service.
Memorials may be donations to Children’s Hospital, Seattle or a charity of the donor’s choice.
Services are under the direction of Sticklin Funeral Chapel.
