May 4, 1943 – June 30, 2025
Herman Drake, a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2025, in Olympia, Washington, at the age of 82.
Born on May 4, 1943, in Moriarty, New Mexico, Herman lived a full and vibrant life rooted in God, love for family, nature, and craftsmanship. After graduating from Fort Bragg High School in Fort Bragg, California in 1961, Herman went on to build a respected career as a self-employed plumber and later moved on to carpentry, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, creativity, and integrity.
He married the love of his life, Peggy Drake, on August 8, 1964, in Casper, California. Together, they shared nearly 60 wonderful years of marriage, raising a family and creating a lifetime of cherished memories.
Herman’s love for the outdoors was a central part of who he was. He found joy in fishing, hunting, and target practice, and was a passionate collector of mounted animal heads — each one with a story he loved to tell.
Herman is survived by his beloved wife Peggy; children Tracy Troyer, Eva Meyers, and Herman Drake; many grandchildren and a few great-grandchildren; and his sister, Claudia Douglas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Alma Drake, and his brothers Paul Drake and Charlie Drake.
A memorial service to celebrate Herman’s life will be held at 1pm on Saturday, July 26th, at Living Waters Christian Fellowship Church in Castle Rock, WA. Family and friends are invited to gather, share stories, and honor a life well lived.
Herman will be remembered for his warm smile, steady hands, and the quiet strength that defined his life. His presence will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
