Jerry was born on April 26, 1939, in Duluth, Minnesota, to Carl Bjork and Anna Abramson. He grew up with his brothers Ted, Ray, and Robert, learning early the value of family, hard work, and a good laugh.
After graduating from Olympia High School, Jerry attended Centralia College, graduating in 1963. He went on to Washington State University, graduating in 1965 with a degree in Forestry — a perfect match for someone who loved the outdoors as much as Jerry did. Before beginning his career, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy.
Jerry spent nearly 29 years working for the Washington State Department of Natural Resources, where his knowledge and steady nature made a lasting impact. He retired in 1993 but never stopped staying busy.
On June 5, 1971, Jerry married Marie, the love of his life, in Centralia. Together, they built a home filled with warmth, laughter, and countless gatherings of family and friends. Jerry loved to cook and entertain — An enthusiastic host, he was known for his legendary whole-pig roasts, homemade wine, and warm hospitality. Jerry also enjoyed RV-ing and exploring the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. He also loved to hunt, fish, garden, travel with his RV community, and take care of his “mini farm.” Whatever he did, he did with heart.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carl O. Bjork; his birth mother, Anna Abramson; and his step“mom”, Vera. He is survived by his beloved wife, Marie, and many extended family members and friends who will forever treasure his kindness, humor, and generous spirit.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Silver Acres for their wonderful care and compassion.
A funeral celebrating Jerry’s life will be held at St. Mary’s Church in Centralia at 11:00 a.m. on Friday October 24th, 2025, with a reception to follow at the church. A graveside service was held on October 8, 2025, at St. Francis Mission in Toledo WA.
