

Jessie Mildred Rogers-Steele was born to Camilla Nelson and Emmons Rogers on August 19, 1923 in Thief River Falls, Minnesota.
Jessie was a wonderful, loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her husband James, of 67 years, as well as three daughters: Greta Jean Sweeney of Rochester; Carolyn Graham and husband Harold of Chehalis; and Rita McDowell and husband Ross of Vader; nine grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents Emmons Rogers and Camilla (Nelson) Rogers and three brothers: Howard, Russell, and Jack.
She was active in many groups and served many roles such as: Past Matron and 50 year member of Centralia Chapter #14 and Castle Rock Maple Chapter #218 Order of Eastern Star (O.E.S), Past Mother Advisor of Toledo Assembly Order of Rainbow Girls; also recipient of the Grand Cross of Colors, Member of Zora Temple #5 (Daughters of the Nile), Past President of Zuleika Club, Member of Maple Leaf Rebekah Lodge #326, and Member of Winlock VFW Women’s Auxiliary Post.
In 1976 she was the Grand Organist for O.E.S., from 1978 to 1989 she was a member and organist for Winlock Methodist Church as well as Sunday school teacher from 1978 to 1989, as well as a Member and organist for Ryderwood Community Church from 1990 to 2013.
She retired as Division Manager and Credit Clerk for Sears Roebuck & Company.
A Visitation will be held from 1-4pm on Thursday, October 30th at Sticklin Funeral Chapel. A Funeral Service will be held at 11am on Friday, October 31st at Sticklin Funeral Chapel followed by a Graveside Service at Claquato Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Masonic Temple in Chehalis. Arrangements are under the care of Sticklin Funeral Chapel.
