Lowell Dean Morton

Lowell ‘Dean’ Morton, 85, passed away at his home in Chehalis, Wash., on Wednesday, October 30, 2019. Dean was born on October 30, 1934, in Hartville, Missouri, to Homer and Orpha (Hendersen) Morton. His family came to Lewis County in 1936, and Dean attended Pe Ell School. He married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Ratkie, in Doty, Wash., on April 9, 1954. Dean worked at Lewis County PUD for many years, and owned a Christmas Tree farm on his Chehalis property. Dean loved planting those trees, and enjoyed helping happy families select their very own Christmas Tree. He adored his family, hunting, fishing, and never missed morning coffee with ‘the guys.’ Dean is preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Orpha; son, Chet Morton; sister, Ruby Jerles; and brothers, Billy, Doyle, and Murl Morton.
He will be forever loved and missed by his loving wife of 65 years, Patricia Morton; children, Brett (Rhonda) Morton and Deana (Bob) Peterson; daughter in law, Kerry Morton; grandchildren, Nicholas, Kati, Matthew, and Tyler; great granddaughter, Beatrice; sister, Jude Anderson; and many other extended family members and friends.
Visitation hours are 12 – 5 PM on Monday, November 4, at Sticklin Funeral Chapel in Centralia, Wash. Interment with a graveside service will take place at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, November 5, at Doty- Dryad Cemetery in Dryad, Wash. A time for food and sharing will follow interment at VFW Hall, 411 1st Street, in Pe Ell.
