Margie Lou Settle Gilmon

Margie went to be with the Lord June 9th at home in Chehalis surrounded by family and friends. She was born Oct. 16, 1927, in Wichita, KS, the daughter of late Edward and Maude Settle. She was the only sister of three older brothers, born a twin. Around eight years of age the family moved from Kansas to Centralia Alpha Road, Chehalis, WA. On Aug. 12, 1944 she married Charles Curless Gilmon, moving just a couple of miles down the road, where they built a home and raised two sons Charles Allen and Robert Dean. They celebrated 53 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on April 8, 1997.

Margie worked for Kraft Foods in Chehalis for 23 years. In between jobs her and her husband volunteered delivering baskets to nursing homes for over a year. One of the places they delivered to was Centralia Convalescent Center where she worked as a nurses aid for 28 years before retiring in 1999.

After retirement she spent time traveling on Discover Tours with her close lady friends, volunteered at the South West Washington Fair with the Senior Center recreation program and she traveled with Ike Wiltfong and the Treble Clef Fiddlers. Margie also loved gardening and spending time at family gatherings.

Margie was a member of the Calvary Assembly of God in Centralia, where she spent time with the Woman's Ministry and weekly Bible study.

She is survived by her oldest son Charles A. in Chehalis and Robert D. (Gwyneth) Ketchikan, AK. Two grandchildren, Jennifer (Vern) in Chehalis and Jim (Christine) in Centralia along with two great-grandchildren, Marissa and Elijah and numerous relatives in the area.

Visitation may be made from 12:00 noon to 7:00 p.m., Tues., June 14 at Sticklin Funeral Chapel in Centralia. A funeral for Margie L. Gilmon will begin at 11:00 am Wed., June 15, 2011 with Pastor Nordby officiating. Internment will follow at Claquato Cemetery, Chehalis. Afterword will be a luncheon at Calvary Assembly of God at 302 East Main Street, Centralia, WA.
